Nephrology Advanced Specialty Trainees Meeting

The Nephrology Advanced Specialty Trainees (NAST) Meeting was introduced in 2006 with three aims:
(1) to provide a platform for the nephrology trainees to hone their skills in oral presentation
(2) to allow the local nephrology community to share their research, through the presentations of their trainees
(3) to equip the trainees with skills that would be useful in their clinical practice.
To fulfil the third aim, invited speakers delivered talks on a variety of topics such as how to prepare and present an oral paper, understanding biostatistics and molecular biology and what to expect when going on HMDP (Health Manpower Development Programme).
The half-day programmes were capped with a social event which included wine tasting, tea appreciation, and talks on horology and financial planning.
There were, in total, four NAST meetings (2006 to 2009) after which the meeting became incorporated into the Annual Scientific Meetings of the Singapore Society of Nephrology from 2010.
